Our Programs

Jung SuWon – Jung SuWon is a traditional Korean martial art that blends the Korean arts of Tae Kwon Do and Tang Soo Do. The art of Jung SuWon is taught to all ages and al physical abilities.  Classes for beginners cover the basic stances, punches, kicks, and forms, while the more advanced students also learn about sparring and self-defense.  All classes stretch and warm up before class begins.  At Jung SuWon, students don’t compete against each other. Each student competes only with himself or herself as s/he improves over time. No experience is necessary to train in Jung SuWon.

Ki Energy Meditation  - This training program is offered 1x per week and gives students the chance to learn the “softer” side of the martial arts.  Similar to “Tai Ch’i", Ki Energy Meditation combines soft energy forms with different techniques to improve your breathing and focus and helps you to release your stress.
Prior experience in the martial arts is not required.

Stretching – Never underestimate the power of stretching. We offer stretching classes on a schedule customized to the students enrolled.  Start off your day by stretching your muscles and increasing the circulation in your body so you will be fresh and energized all day! Re-energize yourself in mid-day by stretching and moving your muscles.

Stretching is important for people of all ages! One of the greatest benefits of stretching is that you’re able to increase the length of both your muscles and tendons. Stretching can help to prevent an injury by promoting recovery and decreasing soreness and ensures that your muscles and tendons are in good working order. The more conditioned your muscles and tendons are, the better they can handle the rigors of sport and exercise, and the less likely that they'll become injured.”

Black Belt Club – The Black Belt Club is dedicated to training students to become leaders in the martial arts and in their lives. The focus is on Lifetime Leadership Development.  Students who are at least a green belt rank who demonstrate commitment and dedication to becoming a black belt are invited to join the Black Belt Club.  They demonstrate their commitment as they strive to improve themselves physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
Qualities of Black Belt Club candidates:
Those who volunteer to help keep the dojang clean and uncluttered.
Those who can be found practicing their techniques before and after class.
Those who are focused on improving their school grades without much pressure from adults to do so.
Those who show respect to adults at all times, on and off the dojang floor.
Those who maintain a positive mental attitude even in the face of challenges.
And more!

Enrollment in the regular Jung SuWon program is required.

Private Class – The Private Class is a pre-scheduled class that occurs with one of the instructors or masters.  These classes are requested by a student who wants to further his or her training by focusing on a specific technique, form or sparring in a one-on-one session. Because it is one instructor and one student, the student will receive immediate feedback and advice on how to improve.  This increased and focused attention will help the student to accelerate his or her training.  One private class is equivalent to about a week’s worth of regular classes because of the student-teacher ratio.

Semi-Private Class – The Semi-Private Class is for 2 or more students who want to train together in a small group setting.  For example, a group of green belts preparing to test for purple belt may want to have a group session on forms so that they all learn to move together.  Or a group of brown belts just want to improve on their current form or focus on improving their jump spinning round house kick technique.
The pricing of the Semi-Private Class depends on the number of students in the class.  As the class size grows, the cost per student drops.

Testing Prep Class – This program is specifically designed for the student who wants to prepare for testing.  The student will work one-on-one with an instructor to improve techniques, forms or sparring to prepare for testing.

ADVANCED TRAINING

The Advanced Training classes are one hour additional training classes offered every Saturday throughout the day for currently enrolled students in Jung SuWon.  Students can purchase an AT card of 11 classes for $150 or pay per class at $15 per class. Check out the AT calendar for the classes offered each Saturday.

Traditional Training – This Advanced Training program takes the students into the figurative “mountains of Korea” using traditional methods of teaching focus and internal strength.  The suspended log, advanced forms and basics with weights and much deeper stances, advanced hand techniques, sand, and candle training are just a few of the training techniques that will be used.

Weapons – Students who are at least a green belt rank and in the Black Belt Club have the opportunity to learn different weapons including the bong (long staff), dan bong (short stick), nunchaku, sword, and more.  Beginners, intermediate students and advanced students can participate in weapons training.  Each level consists of 15 classes.  A student must pass an evaluation test before proceeding to the next level of training.

Action Martial Arts – This program is intended for students who want to learn the advanced techniques to be able to participate in the YongSa Demo Team.  No experience is necessary.  Students will be shown basic gymnastic moves as well as more advanced martial art techniques.

Jung SuWon Demo Team – The Jung SuWon Demo Team can perform at any event, festival, Cheska scissors kickschool gathering! This enthusiastic group of students performs various routines to energize and motivate audiences of all ages!
